“Myo” meaning muscle and “fascia” referring to the connective tissue that shapes us and holds us together. Fascia is the largest sensory organ in the body. It’s everywhere, in every nook and cranny, surrounding every organ and every bone and found within and around every muscle. Muscles and fascia (myofascia) work together to provide stability and mobility within the body.
Nutrients, waste products and movement/load messengers are all transported via the fascial network, making our fascia an important tool in nourishing our tissues, removing toxins and communicating tension & load. It also accommodates important blood vessels & nerves.
Fascia creates the “glide” that allows structures in the body to slide relative to one another. When healthy and hydrated, fascia enables the body to flow easily. It also contributes to the elasticity or "spring" in our step, working with our muscles for everyday movement and mobility. Myofascia also plays an integral role in shaping our posture and alignment.
The health of fascia affects the health of cells within the body. Fascia that is unused or unhealthy can become "sticky" or "gluey", hindering removal of waste products and delivery of nutrients to and from cells. A toxic and depleted fascial environment increases the chance of ill health and disease. Unhealthy, sticky fascia can also
The health of fascia affects the health of cells within the body. Fascia that is unused or unhealthy can become "sticky" or "gluey", hindering removal of waste products and delivery of nutrients to and from cells. A toxic and depleted fascial environment increases the chance of ill health and disease. Unhealthy, sticky fascia can also develop adhesions, restricting mobility.
Myofascia reacts to our movement patterns and our postural alignment. Often our hectic lifestyles can have an adverse affect on our posture with unhealthy patterns placing constant strain on our myofascial network. Aches and pains are a common symptom of postural misalignments.
There is GOOD NEWS!!!!
Fascia is pliable and adaptable. Targeted myofascial movement and massage can promote a balanced body that has postural ease and optimal movement functionality.
Benefits include increased range of motion, pain relief, enhanced breathing capacity, improved joint function and spine health.

Myofascial massage is a hands-on soft tissue manual therapy addressing posture misalignments and myofascial tension areas. Sessions include a combination of soft tissue release techniques and flowing movements to balance and integrate the body as a whole. A postural body assessment and associated functional testing may also be included with sessions tailored to suit individual needs.
Aerial Yoga and Pilates intrinsically works the fascial matrix throughout the body, helping to restore hydration and glide to fascia while encouraging elasticity, mobility and stability.
Kahuna massage encourages tissue relaxation, nourishment and detoxification while promoting energy healing within the Myofascial layers.
